CHIPS MASALA
Mombasa has been a county that most Muslims live. It has been said to have the best meal such us mahamri,mbaazi,viazi karai and e.t.c. Most if the people visits Mombasa during holidays and have fun together with their family and friends. Apart from the food Mombasa has also attracted people with beaches where they can relax and have a good time to reduce stress.But today we will specify on only foods.
I think everyone has tested chips masala!!if not sure everyone has his or her own style that has made them to like chips masala.Chips masala is also known as masala fries, which is a popular food that consists of fried potato chips mixed with masala. The word "masala" refers to a mixture of spices such as chili powder, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. The spices are often mixed together and sprinkled over freshly fried or baked potato chips, giving them a delicious taste. Chips masala can be served with chicken or mishkaki to make it enjoyable when eating.
One of my best restaurants that I have ever visited is kizingo bbq located at kizingo, Mombasa.They have different kind of foods that attract alot of people. This includes chips plain,chips masala,shawarma,Tikka leg and e.t.c. Personally I enjoyed eating chips masala,it has been my best meal since I visited the restaurant. Their food is tasty and affordable.
When we talk about the health of someone considering eating of chips masala,we can say it depends on someone's body and weight. Chips masala is cooked by alot of oil which can be dangerous to some peoples life such as a person with pressure, so when eating shoul have a limit. Potatoes themselves are a good source of vitamins,minerals and fibers. However deep frying potatoes adds calories and fat to the dish. The best method that can be used to have good health is by using an air frier, which requires less oil. Excessive use of the spices can cause discomfort for some people with stomach problems.
It's easier to cook chips masala while at home,below are the ingredients:
Potatoes,oil,garlic,cumin powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder,onion,lemon and salt to taste.
Instructions on how to cook:
1. Start by peeling the potatoes and rinsing them with water.
2. Slice the potatoes by using a sharp knife. Place the potato slices in a bowl of water to prevent them from turning brown while you prepare the oil for frying.
3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer over medium-high heat. Make sure there is enough oil to fully submerge the potato slices.
4. Drain the potato slices from the water and pat them dry again. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the potato slices in small batches, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Fry the potato slices until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove them using a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
5. In a small bowl, combine the red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix well to create the chips masala spice blend.
6. While the fried potato slices are still hot, sprinkle the chips masala spice blend over them. Mix gently to ensure that the spices coat the potato slices evenly. You can adjust the amount of spices according to your taste preference.
7. Transfer the chips masala to a serving plate and garnish with fresh coriander leaves if desired. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for an extra tangy flavor.
